Young Politicians of Canada sent a delegation to DemocracyXChange 2026. This opportunity supported delegates in professional development and networking. We also brought youth perspectives to this conference. 

The National Youth Roundtable on Legislation (NYRL) was Canada's first ever recognized legislative youth council and a forum that enabled young Canadians to affect legislation. After extensive research and consultation, the NYRL released a report, Hear Our Voices, Hear Us Now, on the priorities of Canadian youth ahead of the 2025 Canadian Federal election. 

YPC ensures youth are connected with their representatives, including by helping establish youth councils for over 20 MPs and Ministers, Councillors and Legislators across Canada, allowing young constituents to provide feedback directly to their government representatives, and hosting speaker series and panel events, giving youth the direct opportunity to learn from and ask questions of their representatives.

YPC Alberta's 2025 Youth Summit convened over 70 youth in addition to politicians and community members. Panelists included Erika Barootes the Department Head of the Applied Politics and Public Affairs Program at Makami College, MLA Janis Irwin, MLA Court Ellingson, and MLA Jodi Calahoo Stonehouse. MLA Diana Batten gave the keynote speech and Dr. Chika C. Daniels, the Outreach Manager for the Premier's Office, was in attendance. 

YPC promotes civic education amongst youth, including by delivering workshops and presentations in hundreds of classrooms nationwide, reaching thousands of students on the importance of youth involvement in democracy. We have also conducted national training sessions, preparing youth for grassroots work, including candidate analysis and hands-on canvassing, equipping young Canadians to be effective community campaigners. 

YPC Alberta partnered with Echoform to host a workshop series: The Artivism Project. At these workshops, participants explored the intersection of art and advocacy. During the workshops, youth identified key issues in their community and used art as a way to bring these issues directly to elected officials. 

Our Chief Financial Officer, Omar, and Secretary General, Rasee, had the opportunity to represent our organization at the Reimagining Democracy: EU-Canada Youth Forum in Ottawa. The forum brought together youth organizations from across Canada and the European Union to discuss the future of youth engagement in democratic life. Building on research gathered over the past several months, Omar, Rasee, and the other participants explored how young people perceive democratic institutions, the issues that matter most to them, and how we can strengthen participation through meaningful policy and practice. 

We worked to initiate the first collaboration with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), involving youth in environmental standards setting. This underscores youth commitment to sustainability.
