In May 2026, YPC sent a delegation to the IMRF (International Migration Review Forum) in New York City to ensure Canadian youth perspectives were represented in this crucial issue. In New York City, our delegation met with various stakeholders, organizations, and government officials. This included meeting with the New York City Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs and the NYU Centre of International Cooperation. Our delegation also attended various side events hosted by governments and organizations.
Youth are often not present in these spaces, which made our delegation bring a crucial and unique perspective to these discussions.
Our delegates also gained firsthand insight. into Canada’s role in advancing international cooperation on migration and global development while ensuring that youth voices were represented in this critical issue. This was a valuable experience in global diplomacy, leadership, and policymaking.
In advance of the delegation, our delegates undertook extensive consultations with Canadian and International organizations, stakeholders, and governments to fully understand the complexities of this issue.
