Placement Program
Apply to the Placement Program
The Young Politicians of Canada (YPC) offers a number of programs for young Canadians interested in engaging in democracy. The YPC creates many opportunities for students keen on leading initiatives within their own communities.
The placement program is a part time-volunteer opportunity for students between the ages of 14 and 24 who are interested in involving themselves in changemaking and politics.
The placement program of the YPC is like no other in Canada, it allows students to directly be involved with their own communities by virtue of being situated at a constituency office, a community hub or, a virtual program. Placements include respected, nonpartisan, non-governmental organizations, offices of Members of Parliament and offices of Members of Legislative Assemblies/MPPs/MNAs as well as municipal offices.
The Young Politicians of Canada facilitates placements by bridging the gap between young Canadians and the opportunities to represent young people within democracy. A successful placement candidate will be in the role of Ambassador to the Young Politicians of Canada. Their role within an office will be to help spearhead youth affairs, gain valuable experience in a working environment while supporting the operations of the placement.
While in this role, ambassadors are to represent the YPC with the YPC's values bringing the youth perspective from your region to the table. Timelines of placements are decided upon based on placement and can vary depending on the placement. As an ambassador, successful applicants receive membership recognition of the YPC, and personal YPC email, and continue to sit on the board of Ambassadors even post placement.
The main role of an Ambassador is to represent the YPC within appointed placement as well as the organization in general. Ambassadors can also go further with their role and use the YPC in order to make an impact in Canadian politics in their own initiative.
